We are never too old to make a difference! I am riding for the fifth time in Wheel to Survive in honor of my daughter-in-law Jill Bach, a 9+ year survivor of ovarian cancer. The prospect of losing a daughter in-law to this disease is very scary. Jill’s cancer did not just affect her, but it affected our whole family including her parents, my son, my granddaughters and all the rest of our extended family. I am raising money to help make sure other women and their families will one day not have to endure what Jill and our family have gone through. Jill’s strength and determination to make a difference has inspired me to raise money to help others. As a young 86 year old, probably one of the oldest riders in this event, I am committed to finishing the ride strong. I share Jill’s attitude to make each day count and I am so glad to ride along-side her on February 26th. With your financial support I will have the incentive to pedal stronger and faster. Together we will help put an end to this deadly disease.

The Wheel to Survive event is raising money to fund ovarian cancer research for better treatment options, early detection, genetic awareness and a CURE for ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer is the most lethal gynecological cancer affecting 1 in 70 women. Today more than 70% of ovarian cancer patients will die of their disease, compared to less than 10% of breast cancer patients. When ovarian cancer is detected and treated early, the five year survival rate is greater than 92%. Sadly though, symptoms are vague and subtle, so most patients are diagnosed at later stages and less than 50% will survive longer than 5 years after their diagnosis. I truly appreciate any support you can provide. It will benefit a great cause!
